The Vice President for Research has overall responsibility for the University's research enterprise. With annual expenditures in excess of $200 million, research is carried out both in the departments of the twelve Schools and Colleges and at more than 85 research centers and institutes across all University campuses.

- $170 million in external research expenditures in FY10, a 10% increase over the previous year
