Educational Technology

Our graduate program in Educational Technology prepares educators to put theory into practice in service to the wise integration of technology. We offer an online Two-Summers Master's as well as a Ph.D. degree program.

Focusing on the "new literacies"of online communication, our program addresses such emerging technologies as web-based learning, problem-based learning, situated learning, e-portfolios, and "serious" games and simulations in education (particularly online multiplayer avatar-based games).

At the Master's level, we offer an innovative online Two-Summers MA program designed for the working educator. This program features on-campus work during Summer Year 1, all online work during Fall and Spring semesters, and final coursework on campus during Summer Year 2.

The doctoral program emphasizes hybrid quantitative and qualitative research methods applied to instructional issues of emerging technologies informed by contemporary learning theory and cognitive science.

State-of-the-art facilities include a fully wireless building with smartboard classrooms, digital video editing capabilities, and a fully-equiped cooperative learning lab with robotics, assistive technology, video chat, digital multimedia, and web design capabilities.

Costs are consistent with policy set by the Graduate School and online admission application is encouraged.
